After-School Literacy Program

This pre-k academic program will be offered twice weekly as an after-school program for 4 year olds and their parents. The program currently serves 15 children at hour long sessions each meeting. The program's curriculum will promote reading in both English and Spanish and will be aligned with Georgia pre-k standards.  The classroom is led by a bilingual teacher who uses bilingual books and creative exploration to strengthen literacy skills and to build confidence in the students and parents!

The program seeks to improve Latino family literacy by inviting the parents into the classroom and encouraging them to invest early in a productive academic relationship with their children. Parent's are encouraged to participate in a co-teaching capacity to allow them to better assist their children at home and provide much needed support!

Parents and children also do a collaborative bilingual book presentation at the end of every month to showcase what they have learned together and to continue to build on what is being taught in the classroom!
