Martha Barrios Mead Scholarship
The purpose of the Martha Barrios Mead Scholarship is to support Los Ninos Primero alumni and Teen Volunteers in pursuit of higher education.
This Scholarship was established in memory of Martha Barrios Mead and her career and life as philanthropist, mentor, and advocate. Martha was an original Board Member and collaborator in our mission to prepare underserved Latino pre-school children for educational success. She was a persuasive leader, well-known and admired for her modesty and generosity.
Eligibility: The Scholarship is open to students who meet all of the following criteria:
1.) Participated in Los Ninos Primero as a volunteer for at least 2 years or an Alumni.
2.) Are currently enrolled as a 12th grade student with sufficient credits to graduate in the spring of 2018 or enrolled full-time/part-time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university or 2-year university.
3.) Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA based on a 4.0 scale.
4.) Are not family members or employees of persons who are involved in the development, production or selection of scholarship recipients for this scholarship.
